Masterclass

Every Photo is a story. A photo is not just about the beauty of its subject or the aesthetic arrangement of elements in the photo. A photo goes beyond that.

The Masterclass will revolve around the story telling abilities of a photograph and the multitude of its meanings it carries.

A photograph can carry a story in a way that pervades the physical, cultural, linguistics boundaries of the world and evolve wonder, compassion, horror, at times, all of them at a single moment.

By entering the Sangai Photo Festival Masterclass (hereafter ‘Masterclass’) the entrant agrees to these binding terms:

The Masterclass is open to everyone depending on their agreement of the rules and regulations provided below.

  • Only 12 candidates will be selected for the Masterclass.
  • The Masterclass requires a registration and submission of a portfolio.

  • A text document should also be included describing the photographs.
  • The portfolio will be reviewed by the master and a panel of senior photographers. It is only after the review that the selected candidates will be asked to submit the fee and will receive a formal invitation for the participation in the Masterclass.
  • Last date for the submission of portfolio is 10th November 2018. And the selected candidates will be announced on the 12th November 2018.
  • The portfolio should consist of 15-20 photographs. It is desired that the portfolio consists of a photo essay/ photo-story.
  • The selected participants are required to bring around 200-300 photographs to be reviewed during the Masterclass.
  • The organizers will provide accommodation and meals to all the selected participants; however, they shall make their own travel arrangements to Imphal, Manipur.
  • The selected participants shall deposit the fees within a week’s time after the announcement of the selected candidates failing which his/her participation will be cancelled and the seat will be provided to the next deserving candidate.
  • Once the fee has been deposited there will be no refunds upon cancellation by the participant.
  • The organizers do not take any responsibility for cancellations by transportation companies.
